Some Highlights from
the Providence Academy's Summer Camp 2007:
Summer Camp 2007 - A
Huge Success!
Our summer camp sessions came to a close on August
10 2007. We had two groups of children, the first was five weeks and the
second was four. We worked intensely on remediating and developing their
skills in Reading, Writing and Math. Prior to starting, the students were
pre-tested in all areas and individual programs were developed to address
the needs of each child. The teacher/student ratio was small, allowing
us to utilize various curriculum and specialized programs.
The most exciting part of our summer camp was
the post-testing. Every student attending this program made gains in all
areas. Some children made significant gains and left here much more prepared
to enter school in the Fall. The data revealed how successful a short intense
program was for these children.
Another significant mention is how the children
were able to develop friendships and learn and practice new social skills
in a small setting. Two of our children who had struggled with social relationships
in school left here as friends and continue to be friends.
Thank you to the families who joined us this
summer and to the children who attended.
There is no better success then when a child
excitedly calls out; “I can do division now”!
We look forward to welcoming more children
to our summer camp 2008!
